Eddie Hearn hits out at Tyson Fury’s promoter

Eddie Hearn has confirmed are ongoing for Anthony Joshua to step aside to allow a undisputed title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk

But the promoter insists it would take at least £40million for Joshua to give up his rematch.

Joshua lost his heavyweight titles to Usyk in September and immediately triggered his rematch clause with the Ukrainian.

The bout is still expected to take place at Wembley next spring – but Fury is pushing to be allowed to face Usyk instead, with the winner then defending his belts against Joshua.

Fury remains most likely to face Dillian Whyte, however, who is shortly expected to be called as his fellow Brit’s mandatory challenger.

Hearn has previously criticised Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum for suggesting Joshua should step aside, telling them the rematch is ” none of his f******” business “.

But the Matchroom Boxing supremo has now admitted Joshua could do just that – albeit for a price.

“We’ve had their team reach out to us,” Hearn confirmed to Boxing King Media.

Asked if it would require a seven-figure sum, Hearn said: “Seven figures? A million? If you want to get him not to fight Oleksandr Usyk you have to times that by 40…”

Hearn continued: “At the moment there is communication between the two teams to say is it something… and the answer is AJ has not been spoken to about this yet.

“I’ll deal with it and when I feel there’s an opportunity for Anthony and 258 [Management] we’ll sit down with them and present it to them but I won’t do that until it’s the right opportunity.

“If there’s a route and an offer and it makes sense then we’ll see but right now, it’s just conversations between the camps.

“At the moment Anthony Joshua is fighting Oleksandr Usyk and that’s the situation.”

Usyk’s promoter recently admitted the Ukrainian would “be happy” to fight Fury for the undisputed heavyweight title in his next fight, if Joshua is to step aside.

“The talks on AJ’s step aside have been around since Fury KO’d Wilder,” Alex Krassyuk told Sky Sports about the possibility of a potential undisputed bout.

“I heard that Joshua could consider stepping aside if the money is right as he feels respect to the division and is willing to let the undisputed heavyweight championship happen.

“Usyk says that he can fight Fury next if the offer is right and if AJ allows to do so.”
