Arsenal fan arrested for shining laser in Mykhailo Mudryk’s face

An Arsenal fan has been arrested after a laser was shown in Mykhailo Mudryk’s face during the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Chelsea on Tuesday. The north London club have vowed to take the strongest possible action against the person responsible after the incident marred the club’s return to winning ways.

It was Mudryk’s first appearance at the Emirates since his January move to Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk after months of being linked with a transfer to Arsenal instead.

The Ukrainian was booed as he entered the pitch as a substitute in the second half before green laser was shone in his face for most of his performance.

An Arsenal statement read: “An arrest has been made following the use of a laser during last night’s match. This behaviour is dangerous and totally unacceptable, and we will fully support the police with their enquiries.

“We will obviously take the strongest possible action.”

Mudryk has struggled to build momentum for Chelsea since his £88.5million move over the winter despite a promising debut against Liverpool in the Premier League. He was left on the bench against Arsenal but came on as a 71st-minute replacement for  Enzo Fernandez as Frank Lampard tried to get his side back into the game.

However, despite creating two chances he was unable to affect the result as Chelsea slumped to their sixth defeat in as many matches since Lampard returned as caretaker boss.
