BBC Breakfast’s Charlie Stayt exasperated as he snaps at Naga Munchetty

Charlie Stayt seemed frustrated as he snapped at co-star Naga Munchetty when she asked him questions from a news article about having a routine.

“Do you think you’re a creature of habit?” Naga asked Charlie, who replied: “Quite a bit, yeah. I would say so.”

Moving his belongings on the table in front of him around, he joked: “I’ll just put my pen exactly there while I’m talking. Carry on.”

“Do you think when you cook something on the hob you have a favoured gas ring?” Naga quizzed her BBC Breakfast co-star.

As Charlie confirmed he did, his colleague remarked: “So I didn’t think about this – and I don’t think it’s unusual, but there’s this story in the Mail today, there’s this survey, 2,000 people polled.

“57 percent admitted enjoying a routine, and I’d like to think I wasn’t wedded to a routine but I do think I am.”

Going back to the article, she instructed Charlie: “So I was looking at this list, right – just say yay or nay.

“Sleep on the same side of the bed every night?”

Charlie confirmed: “Yes,” as Naga continued.

She asked: “Do the same supermarket shop?” but Charlie wasn’t impressed.

“I’m not going to answer all these questions,” he snapped. “What’s the gas ring thing? Can we get to the gas ring?”

“Have tea in the same mug every day?” Naga cut in, to which Charlie replied: “No, no, no no. Well, I do when I’m here…”

“Yeah you do, you do,” Naha responded. “Ordering the same thing when getting a takeaway?”

“Anyway…” Charlie remarked dismissively. “What about the gas ring?”

“It’s just one of the examples,” Naga explained. “Buy the same brand of toothpaste, eat the same sandwich every lunchtime?”

“I think a lot of people would say that’s true,” Charlie chimed.

“I’d like to think I was a creature of variety and everything but obviously, I’m not,” Naga commented.

“Where’s the harm in it though?” Charlie asked, to which Naga replied: “There’s no harm.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
