Vincent Aboubakar produced a memorable World Cup moment on Friday night as he scored the winner for Cameroon over Brazil and then was sent off after taking his shirt off in celebration.

The African nation picked up a famous 1-0 win over the South Americans, which wasn’t enough to keep them in the tournament but will go down in history in Cameroon.

Aboubakar headed home the only goal of the game in the 92nd minute and removed his shirt, which was something of a mistake as he had already been booked.

American referee Ismail Elfath had no option but to show the striker a second yellow and a red card, but he gave Aboubakar a warm handshake as he did.

It was a strange but amazing way to make his exit from the World Cup and Ian Wright thought it was beautiful, especially as he looked decent with his shirt off.

‘That’s a nice, beautiful moment. He knows he’s getting sent off, that’s the way you want to leave and he’s pretty ripped as well,’ Wright laughed on ITV. ‘ It’s nice, it’s beautiful.’

There was plenty of praise for the header from Aboubakar, but even more for the cross from Ngom Mbekeli, who plays his club football back in Cameroon, but lit up the World Cup with an immense assist.

‘You can’t underestimate how good that goal is. Simply because the cross is amazing,’ said Wright.

‘The cross was amazing. What he done there was just guide it where it was coming from. That was a textbook header.

‘The cross has got to get pure love. He’s got that in between three men.’
