Benny Benassi Talks His Storied Career And ‘Satisfaction’

Storied producer Benny Benassi, formally known as Marco Benassi, has created hit tracks since the late 1980s, with his most famous song being “Satisfaction,” featuring iconic artist David Guetta. In August, the acclaimed artist released his 20-year anniversary remix of the renowned track.

The latest rendition of the single features a new bassline and sound, creating a modern remix of a classic while still staying true to the original.

“Even when we do a remix for other artists, it’s very important to keep the vibe of the original,” Benassi says of the “Satisfaction” remix. “It’s important to keep the vibe of the original chord and the original chorus.”

Benassi and Guetta connected 20 years ago when they met at Miami Winter Conference. Since their initial meeting, the two created a song that has stood the test of time and been remixed by multiple artists. The track was also created with his cousin and producer, Alle Benassi, and it was inspired by the car horns outside an open street-facing window.

Other hits by Benassi include “Cinema,” which was remixed most notably by Skrillex. The Skrillex remix of “Cinema” not only went Gold in the U.S. and Platinum in Australia and Canada, but it also won Benassi another Grammy while holding firm in the iTunes Top 10 dance chart for over six months.

His next single, “One More Night,” drops Friday, December 2. The track features catchy vocals, high energy beats and more.

With Benassi being such a renowned artist, he says he feels “lucky” to have this fame. He adds that he has achieved what he has wanted to in his professional career. Some of his personal achievements include starting a vegetable garden, which his grandfather taught him how to do, in his small town located in Italy.

Benassi is considered a pioneer of electro house, a genre brought into the mainstream by his 2002 summer club hit “Satisfaction.” He also his career as a deejay along with his cousin, which formed the electronica duo Benassi Bros.

Benassi has grown from club deejay to festival artist to a multi-million-selling record producer. “Satisfaction” trademarked his infusion of house and electro with his global smash hit, “Satisfaction,” which also boasted a music video that was game-changing at the time.

The producer has performed at globally renowned festivals such as Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland. In 2008, he won a Grammy Award for his remix of Public Enemy’s “Bring The Noise.” In recent years, Benassi’s releases include “Everybody Needs A Kiss” featuring duo Sofi Tukker, and the track hit up over 10 million streams online.

Beyond his own productions, he has reached a wider musical audience with remixes with the likes of Bob Marley & The Wailers, Giorgio Moroder, Madonna, Sean Paul and the Rolling Stones. He has also maintained a weekly radio show on the U.S. iHeart Radio, broadcasting to a quarter of a billion listeners monthly.
