Mark your calendar for this Friday—July 8—as Jim Kitchen and friends of Aaron Koelman hold an Online Charity Auction to support Aaron, who is battling Pancreatic Cancer. The auction will be at 9:00 p.m. EST on the Official Goodman Games Twitch Channel, and will include rare publications, unique items, and one-of-a-kind collectibles donated by the DCC community.

Amongst the nearly 100 items that will be up for auction includes several special items donated by none other than our Dark Master, Joseph Goodman! He’s scoured his own archives to bring you these special items that you will find nowhere else! These are all truly one-of-a-kind!

(And be sure to check out the Comps Log item. That’s a doozy!)

Let’s look at what he’s bringing to the auction!

Original hand-drawn map to DCC #71: The 13th Skull

This is the map that Joseph Goodman hand-drew for his adventure The 13th Skull, which was published as Dungeon Crawl Classics #71. It is pencil on graph paper. He will autograph it and dedicate as the buyer desires.

Original painted Stefan Poag cover art to DCC Horror #2: The Sinister Secrets of the Sempstress

This is an original painting by Stefan Poag. The art measures 17” tall x 13” wide. It was published as the cover to DCC Horror #2: The Sinister Secrets of the Sempstress. Joseph Goodman purchased it from Stefan and is now auctioning it off to benefit Aaron.

Printer Dummy, DCC Empire of the East

In the book manufacturing process, the printer sometimes provides a blank book or “printer dummy” as an example of finished construction. This is the printer dummy for DCC Empire of the East (1st printing). It is a blank book, filled with blank white pages, that exactly matches the 88-page configuration of the finished Empire of the East book. It would work well as a judge’s or player’s journal, or a diary, or some other similar purpose.

Printer Dummy, OAR #5: Castle Amber

In the book manufacturing process, the printer sometimes provides a blank book or “printer dummy” as an example of finished construction. This is the printer dummy for OAR #5: Castle Amber. It is a blank book, filled with blank white pages, that exactly matches the 256-page configuration of the finished Castle Amber book. This book included two tipped-in foldouts as well as a sewn-in satin ribbon bookmark, and these are present in the printer’s dummy as well. This blank book would work well as a judge’s or player’s journal, or a diary, or some other similar purpose.

One-Year Subscription To The Goodman Games Comps Log

One of the most coveted perks of working full-time for Goodman Games isn’t just fame and fortune. It’s being on the comps log. Every item to come through the Goodman Games warehouse goes on the comps log, and the staff gets periodic goodie boxes filled with one copy of everything that’s been published. For this auction item, you will be placed on the comps log from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. You’ll receive one copy of each comp item, just as the staff does. This may even include rare foreign translations, one-off swag items, and other items not typically available to the general public. Plus, of course, this includes one copy of everything Goodman Games releases in 2023. The actual MSRP of this item depends on the final publication schedule for 2023 but is likely to be upwards of $500.

Cover Wrap, DCC 4th printing, Sezrekan Seven-Pointed Star Foil Cover, Black Faux Leather

As part of the proofing process, the printer manufactured this example of the finished cover on the DCC 4th printing. This is the loose cover board, with its faux leather and foil-printed cover, before being sewn onto the text block and glued to endsheets. This would make a good book cover or folder for adventure modules and loose notes.

To bid on Friday night you will need to have a Twitch Account. Bids will be handled in the chat channel and you have to have a profile. Registration is easy and only takes a couple of minutes. If we are putting out a notice Friday on the Goodman Games website we should include this information.

With the volume of items donated the auction will be moving at a pretty good clip. It’s going to be wheels up at 9:00 p.m. EST and Jim will be moving through the items. So be sure to be there from start to finish! It’s for a tremendous cause, and there are terrific items up for sale to reflect that.
