Marvel Studios’ Black Panther – Trailer

The hotly anticipated sequel to Black Panther can finally complete filming as film star Letitia Wright has recovered from injury and is now ready to finish filming scenes.

The 28-year-old actress was hospitalised last August after sustaining an injury during a stunt while filming sequel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Filming proceeded without Letitia after she flew back to the UK to recover – but ground to a halt in November after all scenes that could be filmed without her were completed.

Letitia returned to the set of the film, which is filming in Atlanta in the USA and directed again by Ryan Coogler, with cameras set to roll last week – only to be delayed by 7 days as a Covid outbreak ripped through production.

The Hollywood Reporter explained: “Production was initially to have restarted last Monday but was delayed thanks to several cast and crew, Lupita Nyong’o among them, testing positive for COVID-19.

“Shooting is due to resume in Atlanta next week on the Ryan Coogler-directed picture for what sources say will be about four weeks.”

The film is expected to meet its target to be released in November this year – four years after the first film in the series was released.

The Black Panther sequel will be an emotional ride for fans of the Marvel film series after original star Chadwick Boseman – who played title character T’Challa, aka Black Panther – passed away in August 2020 at the age of 43 following a secret battle with colon cancer.

It is expected that Letitia’s character, Shuri, will lead the sequel film following the loss of Chadwick.

Meanwhile, Letitia has come under fire in recent months after expressing opinions that many deemed to amount to ‘anti-vaccine’ sentiment amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The actress sparked controversy when she took to Twitter to share a video of minister Tomi Arayomi who suggested the Covid-19 vaccine could “make extra limbs grow”.

While the Hollywood Reporter went on to later claim that Letitia had been spreading anti-vax views around the set of Black Panther 2 – an accusation that she furiously denied.

Taking to Instagram amid the accusation storm, she wrote: “God bless you all. It saddens me to have to address the reports published by The Hollywood Reporter on October 6th 2021.

“The report spoke about my conduct on the set of black Panther 2. I honestly assert that this was completely untrue.

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me, knows that I work incredibly hard at my craft & my main focus is always to do work that’s impactful and inspiring. That has been & will continue to be my only focus.

“I will continue to hold onto God’s hands, and onto the scripture of Isaiah 54:17. I continue to focus on my healing. Thank you for your prayers. And I continue to pray for God’s love, peace & joy for you all. God bless you. Letitia.”
