A British father has died after falling off a holiday home in Bulgaria.

The family of Paul Bond, 61, confirmed that he passed away in a Bulgarian hospital on July 23.

Mr Bond suffered severe head injuries when he fell from the second floor of his holiday home.

Following his fall, Mr Bondy’s family had started a GoFundMe page to get him home for further treatment.

Mr Bond’s daughter, Abi, shared the tragic update on her social media last week. She said: “Dad passed away on Sunday afternoon.

“We just want to thank everyone for your kind words, prayers, support and donations, we will be forever grateful. We will be getting Dad home as soon as possible.”

A friend of the family, Rebeka Richardson, wrote on the fundraising page. She said: “The family would like to thank all those who have supported them during this difficult time.

“This has been greatly appreciated, the money raised will now be used to bring Paul home as soon as possible. We appreciate your respect at this time.”

BristolLive reported that Mr Bond has been described as a “hugely loved father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend” who had been renovating his holiday home when he fell from the second-floor balcony.

Mr Bond was later found by a friend on July 9, but it is not yet known exactly when he fell. After the fall he was taken to hospital in a coma where he underwent surgery.

Mr Bond was then put on life support where his condition was described as stable, but the fundraiser said his head injuries were reportedly irreversible.

Before Mr Bond’s death, the fundraising effort had raised around £7,000 to bring him back to the UK. Mr Bond, a well-known builder in the area, leaves behind his daughters and granddaughters.
