Britney Spears’ husband has spoken out following reports a security guard “slapped her in the face” when she tried to take a photo with NBA player Victor Wembanyama.

The model, 29, raged on Instagram: “I am opposed to violence in any form, especially without justification in the defense of yourself or someone else who is unable to defend themselves.

“Self-defense can be unavoidable, but the defense of any woman, especially my wife, is not debatable.

“I consider my reaction subdued considering what occurred and I hope the man in question learns a lesson and changes his disregard for women.

“Thank you for the support.”

In a follow-up message, Britney’s husband said he “can’t imagine a scenario where an unarmed female fan showing any kind of excitement or appreciation for a celebrity would cause her to be physically assaulted, much less being hit in the face for tapping someone on the shoulder”.

He concluded: “The changes needed will have to come from the top, and I look forward to those changes.”

It had been reported that Britney approached Victor Wembanyama, 19, at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel, Las Vegas, on Wednesday night.

The security guard allegedly struck Britney in the face with the blow knocking her to the floor and causing her glasses to fall off, according to TMZ.

Following the incident, Britney reportedly got back on her feet and returned to her table. The security guard then approached her table to apologise.

Rolling Stone reported that Britney’s team filed a police report alleging battery.

As per the publication, a police spokesperson said in a statement: “On July 5, 2023, at approximately 11 pm, LVMPD officers responded to a property in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard regarding a battery investigation.

“The incident has been documented on a police report and no arrest or citations have been issued. No further details will be provided at this time.”
