Brits could save money on flights with booking tip

Although the price of flights has soared this year, there are a few tips British tourists could use to try to save money. A team of travel experts from Expedia have shared their top tips to save money on flights.

Book flights on Sunday

Expedia found that travellers who book flights on Sundays instead of Fridays could save 20 percent on domestic flights and 10 percent on international flights.

Although this tip might not always work, it’s worth checking as it could save a few extra pennies for a holiday.

Flights generally continue to rise in price the closer it gets to the travel date so it’s usually a good idea to snap up a deal straight away.

Friday is usually considered the most expensive day to book a flight so could be best avoided.

Book in advance

Expedia recommends booking domestic flights at least two months in advance to secure the best price.

When it comes to international flights, tourists should aim to book at least four months in advance.

Expedia found that travellers who booked domestic flights two months ahead could save 20 percent on the price.

Booking an international flight four months ahead instead of last-minute could save 30 percent of the price.

Best month to travel

It might not be the most popular month to travel but the team recommends March as the safest month to travel.

Travellers heading off in March are the least likely to face flight delays while those holidaying in July are the most likely to suffer from travel chaos.

Choosing an off-peak month for a holiday could also be a great way to save money on an expensive trip.

Many destinations, such as the Canary Islands and Turkey, have warm weather well into the spring and autumn months.
