Bryan Cranston Shares Emotional Response to Film Getting Pulled from Disney+

0

Disney+ is planning a purge of many movie and TV series titles from its streaming service in the near future, this as part of the company’s continued efforts to cut costs. Shows like The Mysterious Benedict Society and Willow are getting pulled, and that has gotten a lot of fans perturbed, though they’ll be joined by a variety of movies and documentaries. Among them is the movie The One and Only Ivan, a family film directed by Thea Sharrock that was written by Mike White. Bryan Cranston starred in one of the lead roles with the film also featuring the voices of Sam Rockwell, Angelina Jolie, Danny DeVito, and Helen Mirren. Inspired by a true story, The One and Only Ivan is about a gorilla in captivity who devises a plan to escape with his new elephant pal.

Upon learning that the film will be removed from streaming availability, Cranston took to Instagram to share his thoughts. He shared a post that included some images from the movie while also including a message noting how he encourages everyone, especially families, to check out the new film while they still have the opportunity to stream it on Disney+.

“I heard the news that my film, The One and Only Ivan is being pulled from Disney+ as early as next week,” Cranston wrote. “I was very proud of this sweet, family movie that was released after the COVID Lockdown began. And I urge you to gather your kids, or nieces & nephews, make some popcorn, and watch this engaging and delightful story that was based on real events!”

The Emmy-winning actor added, “The real life guy that I play actually adopted a baby gorilla (Ivan) and raised him in a Washington state suburb. A crazy true story!! Thanks to Disney for giving us the opportunity to make this movie in the first place. I just know that it will make for really great family time – but you have to do it this weekend before it disappears forever. I promise, you’ll be glad you saw it.”
