Iconic singer and songwriter and the “King of Soul,” Otis Redding, will also be honored with a posthumous star. “The Selection Committee which is made up of fellow Walk of Famers, carefully hand-picks a group of honorees each year that represent various genres of the entertainment world,” said Chair and Walk of Famer Ellen K. “The Committee did an amazing job choosing these very talented people. We can’t wait to see each honoree’s reaction as they realize that they are becoming a part of Hollywood’s history with the unveiling of their star on the world’s most famous walkway!”

The role that Chadwick Boseman will always be best remembered for however is his powerful performance as T’Challa aka Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Introduced in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Boseman quickly steals the show from the likes of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America, bringing the iconic Marvel character to life and making the role his own. Boseman would go on to lead the Black Panther solo outing in 2018, with the MCU outing ranking as one of the most critically acclaimed in the franchise, and earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.

Last year’s sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, pays tribute to the late actor, with Boseman’s death being reflected in that of T’Challa. In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the leaders of Wakanda fight to protect their nation in the wake of King T’Challa’s death, with the sequel and its exploration of grief resulting in one of the most genuinely emotional outings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The role of T’Challa has not been recast following Boseman’s death, with Kevin Feige explaining why this was felt to be the right decision. “It just felt like it was much too soon to recast. Stan Lee always said that Marvel represents the world outside your window,” he explained. “And we had talked about how, as extraordinary and fantastical as our characters and stories are, there’s a relatable and human element to everything we do. The world is still processing the loss of Chad. And Ryan poured that into the story.”

Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are available to stream on Disney+.
