Chris Eubank Snr has defended Conor Benn following his failed drug test and insisted he is ‘coming’ for the promoters and managers who tried to ‘murder my boys’.

Benn returned an adverse finding for banned substance clomifene which saw his grudge match against Chris Eubank Snr called off during a damaging few days for boxing last week.

The welterweight sensation has repeatedly insisted he is a ‘clean fighter’, vowing to get to the bottom of the failed test.

Eubank Snr, who threatened to pull his son out of the fight over its controversial 157lbs catchweight, has now accused other members of Benn’s team of being responsible for the adverse finding, insisting the 26-year-old is a ‘pure young man’.

‘When I look at a fighter, I look at the spirit in the man,’ Eubank Sr told Stamina For Sale. ‘Conor would have had no idea, in my view, of what they would suggest he should have.

‘I’ve seen them do it, I’ve watched them. These are men who are going to be rooted out of this game, because they’re not fighters, they’re PE [physical education] teachers.

‘I respect them, but not when they’re harming fighters, because – in my view – when I look at Conor Benn, that’s a pure young man.’

Eubank Snr and Nigel Benn, who shared two memorable wars in 1990 and 1993 were scheduled to launch a speaking tour alongside each other during fight week.

Having urged his old rival not to attend, Eubank Snr has now vowed to take down those he feels are responsible for endangering both his son and Benn.

‘I told Nigel: “Don’t come to these speaking engagements,”’ Eubank Sr. added.

‘There’s going to be too much pressure on him because you’ve let them lead your son into a pit, a snare.

‘That boy’s clean. A clean man, and a great fighter. But you have toddlers looking after us fighters. These guys they call managers and promoters.

‘These guys, I’m coming for you. You tried to murder my boys. I am coming for you.’
