Cirque du Soleil announces FIVE more Perth shows

The show may be performed on ice, but tickets are in scorching hot demand for Cirque du Soleil’s Crystal.

The Montreal-based company’s 42nd creation and first acrobatic experience on ice arrives on Australian shores later this year for a national arena tour and has just announced extra dates for most capital cities.

Demand in Perth for the one-of-a-kind, circus arts on ice production has resulted in five additional shows, the season at RAC Arena now running from September 15 to 24.

Enthralling more than 1.9 million people worldwide since its creation by Shana Carroll and Sebastien Soldevila in 2017, Crystal seemingly defies gravity as artists backflip, leap and vault across the ice on skates, taking audiences on a whimsical journey into a vivid and imaginary world.

It is Cirque du Soleil’s first and only touring show to incorporate multiple remastered pop songs into its soundtrack including Beyonce’s Halo, U2’s Beautiful Day, Nina Simone’s Sinnerman and Chandelier by Sia.

“We’re thrilled to bring Crystal to Australia for the very first time,” Crystal’s Australian-born artistic director Robert Tannion says.

“The show is all about finding the magic in the everyday and what could be more magical than seeing the beauty of ice-skating blend seamlessly with adrenaline-inducing acrobatic and aerial feats that audiences know and love from Cirque du Soleil.”

TEG chief executive Geoff Jones seems unsurprised by the strong sellout of Crystal shows in Australia so far, citing it as no secret that Australians love Cirque du Soleil.

“It’s a privilege to work with such a talented group of people who embrace boundless creativity,” Jones says.

“This show is everything that you love about Cirque du Soleil and so much more.”

Tickets to the newly added Perth performances from September 22 to 24 go on sale from March 27 at ticketek.com.au.

Cirque du Soleil’s Crystal is at RAC Arena, September 15 to 24.
