Italian DJ Francesco Facchinetti officially filed a complaint against Conor McGregor on Tuesday, alleging the former UFC champion launched an unprovoked attack on him in Rome at the weekend.

The Italian police confirmed that charges were formally pressed on Tuesday, with Facchinetti saying he would not be withdrawing the complaint, even if he was offered €10m (£8.44m).

McGregor is accused of punching Facchinetti during a party in the early hours on Sunday, with the Italian claiming he was left with a broken nose and a damaged lip from the unprovoked attack.

CNN also report that he was left with ‘an alleged concussion’ with Facchinetti telling the publication of McGregor: ‘He is dangerous, he needs to be stopped.’

He added: ‘I could have shut up and not said anything to anyone, but since I’m here to tell it, I must say that that person is really violent and dangerous.

‘If McGregor’s lawyer were to call me tomorrow and offer me €10m to withdraw the complaint and to withdraw everything, I would say no.’

The incident occurred at the St Regis Hotel in the Italian capital, with a spokesperson for the establishment confirming they are helping investigations.

A statement released on Wednesday read: ‘We continue to offer the police our full support in their investigation, and have shared all available CCTV with them.’

Speaking on Tuesday night, UFC president Dana White acknowledged the incident but said he didn’t know enough to comment on it properly.

‘We talked about it a little bit today in matchmaking — I don’t know enough about it,’ he said. ‘I honestly don’t even know enough about it to comment on it.

‘Obviously, I’ve seen what you guys … you guys have seen more than me, actually, to be honest with you. I haven’t talked to Conor, so I don’t know what the truth is. I don’t know exactly what happened. So to comment on it, I really can’t.’

This is the latest public incident involving McGregor, following his minor dust up with Machine Gun Kelly at the MTV VMAs last month and punching an elderly man in a pub in 2019.

Another former UFC champion, Michael Bisping, has mocked McGregor for his actions, labelling him a bully.

‘The old guy at the bar, Machine Gun Kelly and Francesco Facchinetti, these aren’t tough guys,’ Bisping said on his YouTube channel. ‘I’m not trying to sound tough for myself but he’s not starting on me.

‘The guys he’s starting fights with aren’t 6ft 5in, covered in tattoos and on steroids. Francesco Facchinetti looks like he couldn’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag. Machine Gun Kelly looks like the biggest wimp you’ve ever seen in your life and the old guy in the bar is an old guy at the bar.

‘If he’s truly this much of a badass, go and pick on someone – not your own size because picking on someone your own size isn’t hard, is it? Pick on someone that can fight. You’re a professional fighter. You are supposed to be looking for challenges but what he has essentially turned into right now is a bully you know and no one likes a bully.’
