Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty release time, date, pre-load and how to access

Cyberpunk 2077 fans are counting down to the release of Phantom Liberty. Just a few days after the successful launch of update 2.0, Cyberpunk fans can check out the game’s first major expansion, which stars Idris Elba. Taking advantage of all the changes available as part of update 2.0, Phantom Liberty has a September 26 release date on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. The expansion has a midnight BST UK release time. To ensure you don’t miss a second of the action, pre-order customers can also pre-load the game ahead of launch.

The expansion weighs in between 20-35GB, although this depends on platform and whether you’re fully up to date.

As a reminder, you’ll need a copy of Cyberpunk 2077 in order to play Phantom Liberty, complete with update 2.0 installed.

If you don’t already own Cyberpunk 2077, the game is currently available at a discounted price on all platforms.

The game is reduced to £23.99 on PS5, £29.99 on Xbox Series X/S, and £29.99 on PC via Steam. PC users can also grab a bundle containing both Cyberpunk 2077 and the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Once the expansion is unlocked, there are multiple ways to access the new phantom Liberty content.

If you’re in the middle of a Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough, you can access the Phantom Liberty questline after you finish the Transmission quest where you encounter Maman Brigitte from Voodoo Boys.

CD Projekt continues: “If you have already finished the quest or the game — Songbird will contact you shortly after you turn the game on.

“And if you haven’t played Cyberpunk 2077 at all and want to dive straight into the expansion — you will be able to do that from the main menu!”

In terms of what to expect, Phantom Liberty is described as a “spy-thriller adventure for Cyberpunk 2077”.

“When the orbital shuttle of the President of the New United States of America is shot down over the deadliest district of Night City, there’s only one person who can save her — you.

“Become V, a cyberpunk for hire, and dive deep into a tangled web of espionage and political intrigue, unraveling a story that connects the highest echelons of power with the brutal world of black-market mercenaries.”

Taking place in a “city-within-a-city” called Dogtown, players will encounter characters like Solomon Reed played by Idris Elba and the returning Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves).
