Dead & Company are set to play an intimate benefit show at Cornell University’s Barton Hall, which was the home to one of the most beloved shows in the history of the Grateful Dead.

Proceeds from the concert on May 8 at Cornell, in Ithaca, New York, will benefit the “Recording Academy’s MusiCares organization, which provides a safety net of critical health and welfare services to the music industry, and Cornell University’s 2030 Project, in which researchers combine science, scholarship, and innovation to develop climate-change solutions,” according to a press release.

Tickets will be sold via Ticketstoday’s lottery system and fans must register in advance, before 8:59 PT on March 10 at https://c23request.shop.ticketstoday.com/Splash.aspx. A limited amount of travel packages will go on sale at 10 a.m. PT March 10, www.cornell23.com.

Barton Hall holds a very special place in Grateful Dead history, with the show performed at the venue on May 8, 1977, often being held up as the group’s best ever concert. The reputation of the show has much to do with a high-quality audience recording, capturing an energetic performance by a band at the height of its powers.

For those who don’t plan to make it out to Cornell, Dead & Company — featuring featuring Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, John Mayer, Bob Weir, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti — is performing five shows in California during its farewell tour.
