Eddie Hearn claims Tyson Fury will fight Francis Ngannou in an exhibition this year.
Fury is still searching for his next opponent following his win over Derek Chisora last December.
The WBC heavyweight champion was expected to fight Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight crown in Saudi Arabia in December.
But talks over that fight with Usyk have been shelved, with Fury’s promoter Frank Warren claiming that the bout in Saudi Arabia is now planning to go ahead in early 2024.
Hearn, meanwhile, insists Anthony Joshua’s fight with Deontay Wilder is still going ahead in Saudi Arabia in December, despite initial claims that it would be on the same card as Fury vs Usyk.
‘We understand Tyson Fury is going to fight Ngannou in an exhibition, so that rules out the Usyk fight,’ Hearn told Boxing News.
‘But our fight [Joshua vs Wilder] happens regardless.
‘Usyk will still fight on the card by all accounts, looks like Filip Hrgovic probably as he’s the mandatory.
‘If he [Usyk] doesn’t fight an undisputed fight that’s the fight he will have to fight, given the ruling from the governing body.’
In a separate interview with Boxing Social, Hearn said: ‘This is what I’ve heard.
‘It’ll be an exhibition apparently. No knockdowns or anything.
‘I’m only telling you what I’ve heard, who knows what’s what, but I think that is apparently what is going to be the next fight.’
