Eddie Murphy Film Candy Cane Lane Announces Additional Cast Members

Ken Marino, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and D.C. Young Fly are set to join Eddie Murphy in Candy Cane Lane.

The forthcoming film Candy Cane Lane starring Eddie Murphy, has confirmed three more additional cast members. Per Deadline, Ken Marino, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and D.C. Young Fly are set to join the ensemble cast.

Marino, Johnson-Reyes, and D.C. Young Fly join the previously announced cast members, including Eddie Murphy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jillian Bell, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, and Danielle Pinnock. The film will be directed by Reginald Hudlin, with the script written by Kelly Younger. Plot details are still scarce, but it was reported that the childhood holiday experiences of director Hudlin inspired the film.

Candy Cane Lane’s cast and crew are already filming in Los Angeles. The film will be streamed through Prime Video and will be available to over 240 countries worldwide. It was also reported that the film is part of Eddie Murphy’s three-picture deal with Amazon Studios, and the actor is also set to produce the film. Murphy, together with Charisse Hewitt-Webster, will produce the film through Eddie Murphy Productions along with Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder.

Candy Cane Lane Boasts an Impressive Comedic Pedigree

The three newly announced cast members are a great addition to the all-star ensemble. The trio has proven their worth in the industry. Ken Marino has previously starred in the HBO Max comedy series The Other Two. Having a recurring role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine made Marino a familiar face on TV. Aside from acting, the actor also writes for different series. He starred and wrote for Universal’s Wanderlust and Role Models. He also made his directorial debut almost six years ago through the comedy film How To Be A Latin Lover, released in 2017.

Anjelah Johnson-Reyes also has something to brag about. She started her career as a stand-up comedian, just like most comedians in Hollywood. She already had six various comedy specials streamed through different platforms. She was also seen on the small screen through shows such as Life & Beth, Superstore, The Shield, and Ugly Betty.

On the other hand, D.C. Young Fly has made a name for himself through Nick Cannon’s Wild’n Out and is a familiar face as a returning guest on 50 Cent’s hit show BMF. Aside from his stint in Nick Cannon’s Wild’n Out, he also hosts a podcast called 85 South which is popular among listeners. In addition, the rapper-actor already headlined a stoner comedy television film titled How High 2 in 2019.
