However, just minutes into Emmerdale, fans took to Twitter to question where two of the ITV soap’s major characters were.

Some fans questioned whether Billy Fletcher (played by Jay Kontzle) and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) had left the village.

Taking to Twitter to discuss their whereabouts, @Onelifee3 asked: “Where have Dawn & Billy gone? Did they leave? #emmerdale.”

@Lydiargh1 quizzed: “Have I not been watching properly or have Dawn and Billy gone missing #Emmerdale.”

@PaulPoeUK was quick to reply: “On holiday with Rishi.”

Dawn and Billy have taken a back seat in the ITV soap after the farmer hit Alex Moore (Liam Boyle) with his car.

The couple had also been fighting for custody of Lucas Taylor (Noah Ryan Aspinall) and Clemmie Reed (Mabel Addison) following Alex’s sudden arrival.

However, after Lucas’ dad woke up from his coma, he knew it was Billy who had knocked him down.

After threatening to go to the police, vicar Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) had a word with Alex and told him to leave the village.

The drug dealer was easily scared off by Charles and ended up fleeing the village when he left the hospital.

And ever since, it seems Dawn and Billy have been keeping a low profile.

Another character who has been absent from the village is Charles’ son Ethan (Emile Johns).

In recent scenes, the vicar’s mum arrived in the Dales, but fans quickly pointed out Ethan was nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile, during Thursday night’s episode, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) seemed to be growing closer to the mother of his child, Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland).

After Reuben got the all-clear from the hospital, the parents wanted to celebrate, but Chloe appeared to misread the signals.

The young mum leaned into kiss Mack but was soon pushed away by the farmer, who said he was still in love with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
