Eurostar Axes London To Disneyland Paris, Citing EU Entry Rules And Brexit

0

From 5th June 2023 Eurostar will cease to serve Disneyland Paris directly from London. The company has stated that it wishes to focus on its core inter-capital routes as part of its recovery from the pandemic. The company said it would reassess its 2024 routes next year, so this route may still reappear in the future.

The London St. Pancras to Marne-la-Vallee service, which takes just under two-and-a-half hours, has been served since 1996 and operated predominantly during the school vacations. The suspension now means passengers originating from London must change either at Paris or Lille.

There are new rules for visitors to the EU coming into force in May next year. Non-EU citizens will need to have their fingerprints scanned and photograph taken rather than the existing method of having passports stamped.

In its announcement, Eurostar said:

Our recovery is progressing well, but we have considerable financial commitments … Our border environment has also toughened post Brexit, and further complexity is expected with the launch of the EU’s Entry Exit System.

Whilst we continue to operate in an uncertain and fragile environment, we must focus on our most profitable inter-capital routes to enable us to meet our financial commitments, stabilise our operation and our customer experience, before considering any further developments.
