Former Celtics forward Glen Davis could spend up to two decades in jail.

Davis was found guilty on Wednesday for his role in a scheme designed to defraud the NBA’s healthcare system. He faces up to 20 years in prison.

Will Bynum, a former guard for the Pistons, was also found guilty in relation to this scheme.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams confirmed this news with a statement.

“A Manhattan jury convicted former NBA players Ronald Glen Davis and William Bynum of a criminal scheme to defraud the NBA Players’ Health and Benefit Welfare Plan,” the statement said. “While many of the more than 20 defendants convicted in this case were well-known NBA stars, their conduct was otherwise a typical fraudulent scheme designed to defraud the NBA’s health care plan and net the defendants over $5 million in illicit profits. Today’s conviction exemplifies that despite notoriety or success in sports or any other field, no one is exempt from criminal charges if they engage in fraud.”

According to MassLive, Davis will most likely receive a “far shorter jail term.”

Davis played in the NBA from 2007-2015, averaging 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. The highlight of his career was winning a title with the Celtics in 2008.
