On Friday, police found opium being cultivated illegally in the village and seized 128 opium plants in full bloom, weighing 6.3 kg. The accused had cultivated the plants in barbed plant beds next to vegetables.

The action came following a tip-off that the father-son duo was supplying the opium to different areas. The accused, identified as Krishan and his son Deepi, are at large.

They have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Chandimandir police station.

On March 6, Panchkula police had arrested a man for growing cannabis in his garden at Tipra village in Kalka. As many as 788 plants of cannabis were found growing on his land. A day later, a CM flying squad team had found over 1,500 fully grown plants of opium in an agricultural field in Morni.
