Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell has hit out at fellow campmate and I’m A Celebrity…South Africa finalist Fatima Whitbread.

Paul admitted that he feels betrayed by Fatima following a row about contraband goods, after hearing rumours that she also indulged in forbidden foodstuffs.

He told The Sun: “I have found out from Gillian recently that she had given Fatima some of her contraband mints.

“At the point when Fatima is saying to me, ‘you have brought shame on yourself’ all while she’s sucked on an Imperial mint! That’s a bit rich isn’t it.

“So she wasn’t quite so righteous after all.”

“This is all what Gillian told me of course,” he admitted.

Within days of the celebrities entering camp, there was chaos as it was revealed that some celebrities, including Paul, had smuggled in contraband.

Olympian Fatima Witbread looked far from amused as the group were told they would not have their dinner delivered until the banned items were handed over.

At the time she accused Paul of bringing “shame” on himself.

“Whether we like it or not, we’re all in this together,” Fatima stated sternly.

However, Paul has subsequently learned that she wasn’t as squeaky clean as she implied.

Paul broke down when his rule breaking was discovered, telling fellow campmate Carol Vorderman he was “devastated”.

The pair got on very well during their time in camp and were evicted together in last night’s show.

Speaking after his elimination, Paul reflected on his experience this time around.

“I wanted to go out with a smile. I wanted to go out on a high note,” he explained.

“And I did because I left with Carol Vorderman who’s a giggler.

“It was a rollercoaster of a ride at times and there were ups and downs of course,” he admitted.

“But at the end of the day, looking back on it, we had fun and made memories of a lifetime.

“I know it’s a cliché, campmates always say ‘I made friends of a lifetime on this show’,” he said.

“I didn’t [make friends] the first time round. I didn’t,” he confessed, adding that he had a happier experience this time.

“This time was totally different. We bonded as a big family,” he revealed.

I’m A Celebrity…South Africa continues on ITV tonight at 9pm.
