From soldier to cricketer to now exploring human complexities in Gehraiyaan, Dhairya Karwa is here to stay : Bollywood News – Bollywood Hungama

Actor Dhairya Karwa has come a long way in his journey as an actor. The actor who started his Bollywood journey with a character-driven role in Uri- The Surgical Strike followed it up by playing cricketer Ravi Shastri in the film 83 headlined by Ranveer Singh. Now, he is all set to be seen opposite Deepika Padukone as one of the lead actors of Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan.

Dhairya bagged his first lead role after multiple rounds of audition that lasted about a month, which gave him a sense of understanding that it is a “big” movie with big “stars”. In Gehraiyaan, he plays the role of Karan and is cast opposite the powerhouse performer Deepika Padukone who plays Alisha. What makes it even more challenging is that the film deals with a barrage of human complexities with the central theme of infidelity.

Karwa describes his character as someone who you will find in every group of friends. He is laid back, very chill and believes in going with the flow. However, his flow is disrupted when his long-term live-in partner (Alisha) finds their relationship monotonous.

Going by the trailer, Dhairya has managed to stand out with his character and will definitely be a performance that will leave a lasting impact. “It’s the first time I’m playing the lead part, against a prominent personality and against a well-known director, a big production house, the whole setup was big. There are some expectations of you. So for you to perform in that environment, the environment has to be very supportive. The people around me, everyone was very supportive of me. I’ve worked hard for it,” he had said in an interview with Bollywood Hungama.

Recognizing his talent, Karan Johar’s talent management firm Dharma Cornerstone Agency had announced him as one of their clients in March, 2021. The faith of the makers of Gehraiyaan and Dharma Productions on Dhairya Karwa proves that the actor is here to stay and has just begun his journey as a performer.

Gehraiyaan directed by Shakun Batra and also starring Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi is all set to release on Amazon Prime Video on February 11.
