This is perhaps the first time that Bumrah, recuperating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for almost the past 10 months now, has bowled even in a practice game since suffering a stress fracture of the back which has kept him out of action since September and seen him undergo a surgery earlier this year.
TOI has learnt that Bumrah’s figures in the ‘match simulation,’ which involved all the bowlers bowling to Mumbai’s batsmen, read: 10-2-34-1, with opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi (bowled for an eight-ball duck) being his sole scalp. On Saturday, another pacer, returning to action after a stress fracture of the back which required surgery, Prasidh Krishna, bowled to Mumbai’s batsmen in a practice game. Prasidh’s figures, spread across three spells, read 10-2-26-1.
In a medical update on July 21, the BCCI had stated that both Bumrah and Krishna “will now play some practice games, which the NCA will organise. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their progress and will make a final decision after assessing them following the practice games.”
For the past two weeks, the Mumbai senior team has been camping in Alur near Bengaluru in a KSCA facility.
The BCCI is likely to give the responsibility for online ticket sales of the 2023 ODI World Cup to two online ticketing platforms/agencies-bookmyshow.com and Paytm.com. The spectators will still need to carry physical tickets at the venues, though.
“Both the ticketing agencies are likely to handle almost half the number of matches each at the World Cup. The tickets for the big-ticket India-Pakistan match and the final will be available on bookmyshow.com, while the tickets for the semifinals (at the Wankhede Stadium & the Eden Gardens in Kolkata) will be available on Paytm.com,” a source told TOI. Ticket sales would begin from August 10.
Meanwhile, all the 12 venues where the World cup matches and warm up games are going to be played, were inspected by the ICC recce team.
