Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal was a better summer signing than Manchester City bringing in Erling Haaland, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Jesus, who arrived at the Emirates from City in a £45m deal this summer, has helped Mikel Arteta’s side climb to the top of the table after seven games.
The 25-year-old Brazil international striker has scored four goals and provided three assists in that time.
Meanwhile, Haaland joined Pep Guardiola’s side from Borussia Dortmund for £51m this summer – and despite City losing the Community Shield to Liverpool – the 22-year-old has helped them to an unbeaten start to the season since.
City are currently second in the table – just a point behind Arsenal – and have scored six more goals than them while also conceding one less.
Haaland has 11 Premier League goals from his opening seven games, as well as one assist, while he has also scored three goals in two matches in the Champions League, giving the Norway striker a total of 14 across his first 10 appearances.
Agbonlahor, though, feels Jesus was the better summer signing, telling TalkSPORT: ‘Best signing is Gabriel Jesus for me.
‘Haaland has been outstanding, but City always did well without Haaland, scored ridiculous goals without Haaland.
‘Gabriel Jesus has turned Arsenal into something else. They have got a striker now who doesn’t labour when he is pressing defenders.’
Jesus was left out of Brazil’s latest squad and has said he will do everything he can to earn a recall for the World Cup.
Haaland, meanwhile, was recently praised by Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, who is predicting the striker to become an ‘absolute superstar’.
‘Watching him play is incredible,’ Rooney said. ‘He’ll obviously score goals, like he has been doing, but I just think he makes the difference to City.
‘I think he’s unique, he’s recognisable, he has presence – on and off the pitch, I think he’s going to be an absolute superstar.’
