Superhero fans, gamers and anime enthusiasts alike came together for Comic Con Perth on Saturday.

The major pop-culture exhibition returned to WA for the first time in six years.

Cosplayers donned intricate and colourful costumes from blockbuster Marvel movies, Nintendo games and popular manga series.

Ellie Christina, who was cosplaying as the character Samus from the video game Metroid, said Comic-Con allowed attendees to connect with like-minded people in an inclusive environment.

“When I was younger this wasn’t mainstream . . . it’s great to now have a place to embrace the culture,” she said.

The two-day event features interactive activities, Q&A panels, workshops, cosplay parades and meet and greets with big names in the pop culture realm.

Krysten Styles, who dressed up as Princess Daisy, said it was important to have these kinds of events in Perth to bring the community together.

“It helps people come out as who they are and they can express themselves more openly,” she said.

Jessica Lynne, who dressed up as Xena Warrior Princess, said it was a great outlet for local creatives.

“It brings us all together, those who are creative and like to showcase their creativity.”
