Acclaimed vocalist Kellie Fuller and the Mike Greensill Trio are set to perform “Close to You: The Songs of Burt Bacharach” on April 6 at the Blue Note Napa.
The setlist will consist of some of the most famous songs from the legendary composer, whose tunes were recorded by such superstar singers as Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin and Marilyn McCoo.
Bacharach — who died earlier this year at the age of 94 — wrote so many chart-toppers, including “This Guy’s in Love with You,” “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” “(They Long to Be) Close to You” and “That’s What Friends Are For.” He’d win six Grammys, three Oscars and an Emmy during his career.
Fuller, a topnotch vocalist who handles jazz, blues, R&B and standards with grace and style, is sure to a great job with whatever Bacharach numbers make the cut for the show.
She’ll be accompanied once again by terrific pianist Greensill, who will be leading a trio with stellar bassist Ruth Davies and accomplished drummer Jack Dorsey.
Of course, the Blue Note Napa — an intimate 180-piece jazz club/restaurant located on the bottom floor of the historic Napa Valley Opera House building — should be a fine setting for this concert.
Showtime is 7 p.m. and tickets are $20-$30, bluenotenapa.com.
