Haye made stunning comeback when he left opponent sprawled on canvas after vicious KO

Despite having not fought for four years, David Haye did not miss a beat on his comeback, scoring a vicious KO.

Initially, the ‘Hayemaker’ retired from boxing in 2012 after knocking out Derek Chisora in a grudge match.

But, he returned four years later to KO De Mori

At the time, Haye had put together an illustrious career, becoming unified cruiserweight champion, as well as heavyweight world champion.

But by 2016, it seemed this was not enough to satisfy the Brit, as he had ambitions of returning to the sport and becoming world champion once again.

This journey began with a fight against Australia’s Mark De Mori, who at the time had a record of 30-1-2.

Haye made quick work of De Mori, as he pinned him in the corner in the first round and landed a thunderous right hand to leave the Australian sprawled on the canvas, as the referee waved off the contest.

After the fight, Haye had this to say: “Why not go for bigger, better fights? A bigger fight’s Anthony Joshua. I believe that fight can be made later on in the year.

“I’m in shape, I’m punching hard. I’m a little bit older. It’ll make for a great fight. That’s the type of fight I want, that’s why I’m back in boxing. It’s the big fights, I need that.”

These aspirations were short-lived, however, as after recording one more win over Arnold Gjergjaj, Haye came up against Tony Bellew.

At the time, Haye thought this would be an easy stepping-stone fight, but it turned out to be anything but that.

In their first fight, Haye ruptured his Achilles tendon in round six and he was knocked down twice on his way to a stoppage defeat.

In the rematch, Bellew once again prevailed, knocking Haye down twice on his way to another KO win and this time, ‘The Hayemaker’ saw this as a sign to head back into retirement.
