Hibs announce singing section for European games and player departure

Hibernian have revealed they will introduce a new singing section for European games.

The section will be trialled in Easter Road’s Famous Five stand in the Conference League qualifiers.

It means that some supporters who are usually sat in that area will need to be displaced but the club say it will provide the best possible alternatives to those supporters.

Hibernian FC Chief Executive Ben Kensell commented: “As a club, and a Board of Directors, we’re committed to improving the atmosphere inside Easter Road and to having a singing section that enhances the match day experience.

“Following the success of the trials last season, specifically in the UEFA Youth League games, we believe this is the perfect opportunity to take this to the next level.

“We recognise that this trial will displace a number of supporters from their usual location to which they feel attached, however, we have explored every option to ensure the best possible alternatives are provided to those supporters, so they can enjoy the matchday experience.

“We look forward to starting a full fan consultation on the singing section as we continually try to drive the Club forward.”

It was also revealed on Thursday that Norwegian forward Runar Hauge has left the club to join FK Jerv.

The 21-year-old, who joined Hibs in January 2022 from Bodo/Glimt, joins the Eliteserien side on a free transfer.

He made his debut in a 0-0 draw with Dundee and would only plat another twice before being loaned to Irish side Dundalk.

On his departure, Hibs boss Lee Johnson told the club’s official website: “This move allows Runar to play regular football in his homeland. We wish him all the best for the future.”
