Holly Willoughby and Dermot O’Leary mess around backstage at This Morning

Holly Willoughby has taken to Instagram to share a video of herself gleefully larking about backstage with this week’s co-host Dermot O’Leary.

At the start of today’s show, Dermot announced that he would be stepping in to co-present the show alongside Holly for the next two weeks whilst the show’s presenter line-up goes through a shakeup.

The Instagram video showed Dermot, 50, sharing his tips for getting show ready when he’s only had three hours of sleep.

Looking tired and dressed in a light blue shirt and navy trousers, the TV host can be seen drying his face alongside a bowl of ice-cold water whilst fellow presenter, Holly, 42, films and encourages him to go in for another facial dip.

Dermot can then be seen taking a deep breath before plunging his face back into the icy water whilst those in the room with him applaud, as Holly says “he’s so brave”.

The video then shows Dermot lift his face out of the water whilst someone in the background can be heard saying: “Don’t tell him he doesn’t need to do this”.

Rubbing a towel across his face, the presenter who usually hosts the show on a Friday alongside fan favourite Alison Hammond, 48, stamps his feet and gestures to the camera to go away.

This isn’t the first time that Holly and Dermot have hosted the show together. During today’s episode, they reminisced about a time that they hosted the hit morning show together for a week in 2014, with Holly remarking, “You look exactly the same”, as they shared a clip from that time.

This led Dermot to joke: “I’ve just chopped off the sleeves, I’m wearing the same top.”

The comment referenced the outfit he wore for the show in 2014, which was a black, high-necked shirt with three-quarter-length sleeves that was almost identical to what he wore for this morning’s appearance, with the only difference being shorter sleeves.

His choice of outfit caused a bit of a stir amongst users on social media, with one user saying: “The most disturbing thing on #thismorning for a while is the lovely Dermot O’Leary’s top today. It’s high neck but short sleeves. In this heat. I DON’T UNDERSTAND.”

Whilst another asked: “Why hasn’t Dermot aged #ThisMorning.”

Viewers of today’s show were also treated to a new theme tune courtesy of This Morning regular Gok Wan.

Holly has been back at the helm of This Morning for three weeks after taking a two-week break following the departure of Phillip Schofield.

Josie Gibson, 38 and Craig Doyle, 52 stepped in to present alongside Holly during her first two weeks back with a new regular host expected to be announced before the show returns in September following their summer break.
