Holly Willoughby sparks fan frenzy as she shares sweet tribute to her dad

This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby has shared a touching Father’s Day tribute to her dad Brian and fans were struck by his resemblance to actor Sid Owen who played Ricky Butcher in EastEnders.

The TV star posted a picture of the 70-year-old smiling while sitting on her home patio with the family’s Golden Retriever Bailey and cat Bluebell.

She simply captioned it: “Dad… We all love you so much… so lucky to have you… Happy Father’s Day.”

However, fans were struck by his resemblance to former Albert Square resident and one time I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here star Sid.

A user called @gotmybiggirlpantson commented: “I honestly thought this was a picture of Sid Owen.”

@callumharvey1992 agreed writing: “Your dad looks like Ricky Bitcher here haha” (sic)

Meanwhile @brendaroseblade7 was struck by his youthful looks, and posted: “He looks young to have a daughter of forty two! What is he on? I will have some of it.” (sic)

Holly’s occasional co-host on This Morning Craig Doyle also chimed in with a very pressing question.

Remarking on her father’s lack of facial hair he commented: “Moustache though!!! Where has it gone?”

Craig has been one of a number of co-hosts who have shared the This Morning sofa with Holly since the departure of Phillip Schofield

He has proven a fan favourite with viewers calling for him to step into the role permanently.

Taking to Twitter, @LynnTurley shared: “#ThisMorning Craig Doyle establishing in cement his credentials to replace Phil 100%.” (sic)

@Cheryl82185788 said: “This Morning has got to make Craig Doyle the permanent host, he is lovely, great personality and compliments Holly Willoughby on the sofa, fits in with the team like a glove. Come on This Morning make it happen.” (sic)

While @Loobylou65 added: “Craig Doyle is the best thing to have happened to #ThisMorning in a very long time.”

For his part, Craig seems to enjoy working on the show and recently posted praise for the This Morning team on his Instagram.

After Holly shared a selfie with Craig alongside a blue love heart emoji, he re-posted it to share his support for the ITV show after weeks of controversy.

Craig wrote: “We laughed and laughed and laughed again Thanks @hollywilloughby.

“This TM team is [OK hand emoji],” he concluded, showing his approval for his colleagues.

Craig’s candid post came after the furore surrounding Phillip Schofield’s exit, after over 20 years fronting the ITV show.

This Morning is on ITV at 10am Monday to Friday.
