The reason for the fine isn’t clear. The star wicketkeeper-batter got run out for a duck in the match and was seen fuming in anger while walking back to the pavilion. He almost sacrificed his wicket for his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal who later smashed fastest fifty in the IPL history.
“Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler has been fined 10 Percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 56 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 11.
“Mr. Buttler admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the IPL statement read.
Buttler admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, according to the statement. The Match Referee’s decision is final and binding for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct.
Level 1 offences under the IPL Code of Conduct typically involve abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, or ground fixtures and fittings; expressing dissent at an umpire’s decision through action or verbal abuse; using obscene, offensive, or insulting language and/or making an obscene gesture and engaging in excessive appealing or pointing or gesticulating aggressively towards the pavilion/dressing room sheds, or acting aggressively or derisively towards either.
“I think it happens in the game, it gives me responsibility to do even better. And Sanju bhai came and said to keep playing my game, and not think about that run out,” Jaiswal said after the match after talking about the Buttler run out.
Rajasthan chased down the 150-run target in just 13.1 overs and are now third in the ten-team IPL 2023 points table. With two more league matches left, they are one of the strong contenders to qualify for the playoffs.
