Ja Morant hasn’t posted anything on social media since brandishing a gun in another Instagram video. He appeared to momentarily break that hiatus to dispute a report.
On Monday, ESPN’s Tim McMahon said on The Hoop Collective that Morant’s camp believes the NBA and media are “out to get them.” Mo Wells, The Kollective’s Director of Pro Sports, responded to the quote with a GIF of a “big cap,” suggesting that he considered those comments untrue.
Per FanNation’s Joey Linn, Morant retweeted the GIF, but quickly deleted it.

On Friday, the NBA suspended Morant for 25 games to begin the 2023-24 season. The Memphis Grizzlies star will lose approximately $7.5 million of his $33.5 million salary.
“Ja Morant’s decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. “The potential for other young people to emulate Ja’s conduct is particularly concerning. Under these circumstances, we believe a suspension of 25 games is appropriate and makes clear that engaging in reckless and irresponsible behavior with guns will not be tolerated.”
Morant’s camp reportedly claimed he was holding a toy gun in the video that surfaced on May 13. TMZ obtained a video of what appears to be Morant lighting a candle with a fake gun after to show family and friends he wasn’t carrying a real firearm.
