Jamie Vardy’s two goals for Leicester City on Sunday saw him equal the record for most goals scored over the age of 30 in the Premier League, which he now shares with Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

The England international scored twice in the Foxes’ 4-2 win over Watford at the King Power, his first goal in over a month but his seventh in the league this season.

The 34-year-old has now scored an immense 127 Premier League goals, 93 of which have come since his 30th birthday.

Wright was clear in this regard before Sunday’s action, but Vardy has matched his record and it is now just a matter of time before the Leicester man claims it for his own.

Vardy’s 127 Premier League goals puts him tied 14th in the division’s history alongside Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, going ahead of Nicolas Anelka and Robbie Keane.

Vardy made his Premier League debut at 27 years and 232 days and only scored five goals in his first season in the top flight, which shows how rampant he has been since then.

Opta confirmed that of the 29 players that have scored over 100 Premier League goals, it is only Wright who debuted at an older age, 28 years and 286 days.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers told the BBC of Vardy after the win over Watford: ‘That first goal was classic, the second getting across the front post was good. He nearly got in a few times but his work rate was excellent.’

After some poor recent results Leicester returned to the top half of the Premier League with the win over the Hornets.
