Jim Carrey has another reason for wanting to retire from show business. If he doesn’t get out soon, he might hurt someone.

“I gotta get out of here before I slap someone, seriously” Carrey told Entertainment Tonight, referencing Will Smith’s attack on Chris Rock at last month’s Oscars.

Carrey, 60, told Access Hollywood last week that he was planning to retire from acting following his reprisal of the villainous Robotnik in this week’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

“Well, I’m retiring. Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious,” Carrey said. “It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break.”

Carrey added, “I really like my quiet life and I really like putting paint on canvas and I really love my spiritual life and I feel like — and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists — I have enough. I’ve done enough. I am enough.”

“There are important things I’ve ignored,” Carrey told ET on the red carpet. “There’s 25 years of Mystery Science Theater I have to catch up on.”

Last month, after the Oscars, Carrey weighed in on the altercation between Smith and Rock during the broadcast.

“I was sickened,” Carrey said in an interview with CBS’ Gayle King. “I was sickened by the standing ovation. Hollywood is just spineless en masse and it really felt like this is a really clear indication that we aren’t the cool club anymore.”

Carrey told King that Smith should have been escorted out and arrested. When King pointed out that Rock had refused to press charges, the GTA native said he would have sued Smith after the assault.

“I’d have announced this morning that I was suing Will for $200 million because that video is going to be there forever, it’s going to be ubiquitous,” Carrey said.

After the attack, Smith resigned from the Academy and apologized to Rock saying that he “reacted emotionally.”

But following Carrey’s criticism of Smith, the comedian found himself under fire after a video resurfaced in which he is seen trying to kiss a then-20-year-old Alicia Silverstone at the 1997 MTV Movie Awards.

“It’s amazing that Jim Carrey sexually assaulted Alicia Silverstone by physically forcing her to kiss him on national TV, when she was [20], and it had literally no impact on his career whatsoever,” one Twitter user commented.

During the same ceremony, Carrey also tried to kiss Smith after he was announced as the winner of the award for Best Kiss.
