It’s a great time to be a Miami sports fan.
Jimmy Butler has led the Miami Heat to an unexpected NBA Finals run. Before Wednesday’s Game 3 loss to the Denver Nuggets, Lionel Messi sent shockwaves around the world when announcing his decision to join Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF.
During Thursday’s press conference, Butler anticipated Messi bringing “a lot of good” to South Beach and the United States.
“Obviously, he is one of the greatest players to play that beautiful game,” Butler said. “I’m so excited for the city of Miami, to be able to have a player of that caliber here.”

Butler anticipates Messi’s arrival attracting more sports fans to Miami to see the international icon.
“Now that he is here, I think all the football/soccer fans from all over the world are going to come here and get an opportunity to watch him compete,” he continued. “So, I’m glad he’s here.”
Messi will play for Miami after a legendary 17-year run for Barcelona and two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain. The 35-year-old instantly brings global recognition to his new club and city.
For now, Butler still has Miami’s attention as the Heat attempt to even the NBA Finals on Friday night.
