Katya Jones breaks down over Strictly exit as Adam Peaty admits ‘wasn’t all positive’

On Sunday night, Adam Peaty and Katya Jones were eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing after landing in the bottom two for the second week running. The duo were up against Tilly Ramsay and her dance partner Nikita Kuzmin, who also had to perform their routine again in a bid to stay in the competition. However, in the end, the BBC show’s judges decided to save Tilly and Nikita.

During their first interview since being eliminated, Adam and Katya spoke with Rylan Clark-Neal about how they were feeling following their exit.

Adam began by explaining he was still feeling “exhausted” as he admitted: “I feel very relieved I get a lie-in.

“I’ve not had a lie-in in a long time. It was 10 o’clock on a Monday and I was expecting a text from Katya going, ‘Where are you?’.”

The Olympian went on to confess that “his ankles were going” while rehearsing for the Jive.

“But for me, I put everything into that,” the Olympian admitted. “It’s not all positive.”

Rylan then went on to show the duo a clip of their “best bits” from the show, and it all got a bit too much for Katya.

The professional dancer began to break down in tears as she recalled her time dancing with Adam.

“We have been so privileged to have an Olympic hero come back from the Olympics and throw himself completely out of his comfort zone,” Katya began.

Adam proceeded to pass Katya a tissue before she continued: “I have just loved every single day.

“I am sure everyone will be grateful for those tight trousers,” the dancer joked.

“Just rising up to the challenge and inspiring everyone.

“Thank you for everything. I am still not ready to go,” a tearful Katya added as Rylan thanked the pair for their time on the show.

It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
