Ben Simmons entered the league as the No.1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft with high expectations.
Some compared his skill set to Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Simmons still showed that potential during the early years with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Then things changed after Simmons struggled in the playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks, leading to him missing all of next season to deal with mental health issues. But even his trade to the Brooklyn Nets didn’t back the old Simmons.
His role with the team grew smaller, and he looked like a shell of his former self when playing.
NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett had a message for Simmons during the latest Ticket and The Truth on Showtime episode.
“Ben Simmons, if you’re listening, I want you to go back and find your roots, man. “Go back and find why you love playing the game, man. Straight up. You got a lot to give to the game, bro.
“Like, straight up, if your heart ain’t it. It is what it is. I hate to say that, man. I think he’s got another run in him, but it’s gonna have to be Ben Simmons, bro. It’s gonna have to be him. I want to see dude get back to killing.”
