King Charles is not holding back when it comes to shaking things up in the royal family, and apparently that includes evicting his mom’s friends from their longtime homes ????.
According to the new paperback edition of Courtiers by Valentine Low, which was excerpted in The Times, Charles wasted no time telling the Queen’s dresser and close friend Angela Kelly that she could no longer use her cottage in Windsor Home Park.
Per the excerpt, “the powers that be were not terribly keen on Kelly continuing to occupy her grace-and-favour home” and “negotiations ensued in which it was suggested that the King would buy her a home near Sheffield, to be near her grandchildren.”
As a source put it, “Angela wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea, but nevertheless the King had no wish to see her homeless. I get the impression that the King just didn’t want to be living next door to her.”
I mean, nice that King Charles bought her an entire new house, but awkward nonetheless. And Valentine Low points out that Angela posted a somewhat pointed Instagram around this time, writing “Getting ready to say goodbye. I am moving at last to my new home which I will be able to call My Home at last.” She also told a friend in the comments, “My work phone has been disconnected but hopefully you have this one… Looking forward to my New Adventures.”
Truly awk times.
