The New York Knicks are in a bit of a rough place this offseason.

On one hand, they clearly need a superstar in order to become a serious contender for an NBA title rather than merely a playoff participant. But on the other hand, acquiring that superstar might require giving up many of the players that made their most recent playoff run feasible.

Case in point: NBA insider Michael Scotto reported this week that the Knicks were considering a trade proposal with the Los Angeles Clippers that would have let them acquire All-Star forward Paul George in exchange for Obi Toppin, Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier, and three first-round picks.

Knicks fans were perplexed that the Knicks didn’t take that deal – especially given that the Knicks wound up trading Toppin for just two second-round draft picks. Others feel that the Knicks made the right move given George’s penchant for picking up injuries and missing games:

So it looks like the Knicks are moving on from Paul George. Whether you like him or hate him, he’s one less star option at guard that the Knicks have in an offseason that really doesn’t have that many.

Who – if anyone – will the Knicks turn to next now that George is off of their radar?
