Kristin Davis says she’s been ‘ridiculed relentlessly’ for getting face fillers

Kristin Davis is getting honest about her complicated relationship with Botox and face fillers.

The And Just Like That… star recently sat down for an interview with The Telegraph, in which she described being “ridiculed relentlessly” for daring to age in the public eye. “It’s hard to be confronted with your younger self at all times,” Davis said, per Page Six. “And it’s a challenge to remember that you don’t have to look like that. The internet wants you to—but they also don’t want you to. They’re very conflicted.”

The 58-year-old actor, best known for playing Charlotte York in the Sex and the City universe, said she waited “a long time” to try fillers after first experimenting with Botox. “I have done fillers and it’s been good and I’ve done fillers and it’s been bad,” she explained. “I’ve had to get them dissolved and I’ve been ridiculed relentlessly. And I have shed tears about it. It’s very stressful.”

In her most recent interview, Davis also discussed her negative experience with lip fillers, saying, “No one told me it didn’t look good for the longest time.” She added, “Luckily I do have good friends who did say eventually—the thing is you don’t smile at yourself in the mirror. Who smiles at themselves in the mirror? Crazy people.”

Now, Kristin Davis says she’s a lot less determined to fight the natural signs of ageing. “It’s whatever. I can’t keep it up,” she told The Telegraph, per People. “I don’t have time. You’re trusting doctors [but] people personally blame us when it goes wrong—[as if] I jabbed a needle in my face.”

Back in December 2021, Davis spoke out against misogynistic reactions to the Sex and the City reboot. “Everyone wants to comment, pro or nay or whatever, on our hair and our faces and our this and our that,” Davis told Sunday Times. “The level of intensity of it was a shock…. I feel angry and I don’t want to feel angry all the time, so I don’t look at it. I just know it’s there.”

At the time, she continued, “That’s the problem with social media, right, is that you don’t know what those people are doing. You don’t know anything about them. They’re just hurling bombs at you. It makes me angry.”

Meanwhile, Davis’ costar Sarah Jessica Parker is similarly tired of the ageist discourse. “I just…don’t care enough,” she told Allure in June 2022. “When I walk out the door, I want to feel okay—according to my standards. I can’t even tell you what those standards are. But you know how you feel when you feel most like yourself, whatever that means. I’m not without vanity. I guess I just don’t care enough about everybody else’s opinion.”
