Leeds have bargain opportunity as Ola Aina ‘decides’ next move

Leeds United could land a bargain transfer opportunity this summer with former Chelsea star Ola Aina reportedly preparing to run down his contract in Serie A. The Whites could finally act on their interest after supposedly weighing up a move for the Torino star over the past two transfer windows.

That may change at the end of the season with no transfer fee to worry about. Aina could be available on a free, unless he performs a dramatic u-turn and signs renewed terms in Turin.

The 26-year-old came through the ranks with Chelsea and made six senior appearances for the Blues before landing in Serie A four years ago. He has made more than 100 appearances for the Italian outfit, but it appears as though his stint abroad is coming to an end.

Fresh reports from Italy indicate that Aina has ‘decided his future’, with a move to the Premier League in the wing-back’s sights.

Aina was linked to Elland Road both last summer and in January while Jesse Marsch was at the helm. It remains to be seen whether the American manager’s sacking back in February affects Leeds’ interest.

The former Blues youth prospect earned caps all the way up to England U20 level before switching international allegiance to Nigeria in 2017. He has since amassed 17 caps as his stock continues to rise in Italy.

“To play against this team, in my opinion it’s very demanding,” he told reporters. “It’s very demanding because you have to know the way you have to have players, where, when and do it as a team.

“Because if you don’t know how to do it, they find a way to progress with different passes and a lot of mobility. They are a very good team, that’s why my players deserve credit because they followed the plan and did it well.”
