Len Goodman, who died at the age of 78 in April 2023, was best known for his work as a judge on the American dance show, ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ After years as a professional dancer, Len began his television career as a judge on the UK’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2004. One year later, he also became a judge on the inaugural season of ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ the U.S.version of the show. Len was on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ for 12 years from 2004 until 2016, and stayed on ‘DWTS’ until season 31 in 2022. It was during that season when he announced his retirement, just months before he passed away.
Throughout his life, Len was married twice. At the time of his death, his wife was Sue Barrett, who he married in 2012. He had one son, James, with his ex-wife, Cherry Kingston, who was also his former dance partner. Len and Cherry were married from 1972 until 1987.
News of Len’s death rocked the dance community on the morning of April 24 when his team confirmed the news. He was reportedly battling bone cancer before his passing.
