Klopp responds to Salah’s comments about contract negotiations

Liverpool’sJanuary transfer window has been eerily quiet so far but there remains plenty of time for that to change as we approach the midpoint of the month.

Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to secure some form of silverware this season even if hopes of winning a second Premier League title in three seasons look more unlikely with each passing match-week.

With injuries, Covid-19 and players being at the Africa Cup of Nations the Reds have seen fixtures postponed in the wake of their dwindling numbers.

Therefore, it would come as quite the surprise if Klopp doesn’t dip into the transfer market at some point in the coming weeks to bolster the options he currently has at his disposal.

With that being said, some of the names currently being linked with a switch to Anfield are so big that any move for players of their stature could be forced to wait until the summer.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool transfer news for Friday, January 14…

Liverpool are thought to be one of a number of top European clubs plotting to make an audacious swoop for Borussia Dortmund teen sensation Jude Bellingham.

The 18-year-old midfielder is thought to be Klopp’s ‘priority’ move according to reports from CaughtOffside who claim that the Liverpool hierarchy are confident they could tempt the Birmingham-born star into joining.

Such is Bellingham’s influence in the Dortmund squad, the Bundesliga titans will not listen to any offers for him until the summer to prevent losing a player of his ability halfway through the season.

Even then it is expected that only an astronomical transfer fee will tempt Dortmund into cashing in on the England international given his contract with the German giants does not expire until June 2025.

Bowen rumours persist amid forward’s confession

Jarrod Bowen has been linked with a move to Liverpool

Jarrod Bowen has been linked with a move to Merseyside since last summer, but the Anfield faithful are likely to be a lot more keen on the switch nowadays.

The West Ham star has been in scintillating form in east London this term with five goals and seven assists to his name for the Hammers.

Bowen has six goal contributions in his last four games and has added further fuel to the rumours linking him to Liverpool with his recent comments on Reds talisman Mohamed Salah.

“I think Mo Salah is the perfect example,” he told Standard Sport.

“The goals he scores and assists he gets, the impact he has on games and consistently doing it every season since he joined Liverpool.

“He is definitely one that I look at and I think he is one of the best players in the world at the moment. As a player you always want to look at people in a similar position to yours and learn from them.”

There is every chance Bowen could consider Salah a teammate sooner rather than later.

Klopp clarifies Origi’s future

Divock Origi is likely to stay at Liverpool for the remainder of the season

The Liverpool boss has insisted Divock Origi will remain at the club for the rest of the season despite speculation suggesting otherwise.

The forward has been a target for Newcastle United and is out of contract come the end of the season.

“Div is not available [for Arsenal ], I forgot him when I asked for help [over who is absent],” Klopp explained.

“Div didn’t train, he is still injured so he cannot help us at this moment, but I don’t see any scenario [where he leaves].

“I would say from this moment he will be here and hopefully soon because we could use him.”
