After being suspended on Sunday for flashing a gun in an Instagram Live video, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant released an apology statement on Tuesday. But by Wednesday, fans were wondering whether whether Morant may have gotten some artificial help to write his statement.

It was FOX’s Shannon Sharpe who publicly suspected that Morant’s apology may have been written using the ChatGPT bot. Sharpe pointed out on today’s edition of Undisputed that none of the language sounded at all like something Morant would say.

While Sharpe’s partner Skip Bayless pointed out that Morant likely had a public relations person write his message, Twitter users were curious to see if ChatGPT might actually be capable of writing a message like that. What some appear to have found is pretty interesting.

A few Twitter users have shared screenshots seemingly showing a ChatGPT response to the input “make an apology paragraph that you got caught again.” The posts appear to be fake, but fans are pretty much universally treating it like it’s real:

It seems highly unlikely that Ja Morant or anyone on his team would have used that kind of verbiage to get an automatically generated apology response. It definitely doesn’t help that the images look photoshopped.

Nevertheless, fans are continuing to clown on Morant for his recent behavior and until Morant does something up front and out of the open to address his actions, it’s going to keep happening.
