There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Jeff Van Gundy complaining about officiating.

During the first half of Game 2 between the Lakers and Nuggets, D’Angelo Russell was assessed a flagrant foul after trying to contest Jamal Murray’s layup at the rim.

Van Gundy was baffled that Russell was hit with a flagrant foul. In fact, he was furious the officials even reviewed the play in the first place.

“That’s not flagrant. Hits the ball, then gets the arm. It’s a tough fall,” Van Gundy said. “This is the overreaction to me, to every time somebody falls down now. That’s why guys exaggerate and embellish their falls. Because they’re always trying to entice a review.”

Later in the game, Van Gundy trolled the officiating after Anthony Davis fouled Nikola Jokic.

“Look at this push. This could’ve lead to some tragic accident,” Van Gundy said sarcastically.

Van Gundy will call Game 3 of the Western Conference finals along with Mike Breen and Mark Jackson.

The Lakers desperately need a win on Saturday night if they want any chance at coming back in this series.
