Not long ago, you might have found yourself all dressed up with nowhere to go. Or, more likely, you weren’t dressed up at all. But that was then, and this is now. December brings a slew of things to do. Over in Philadelphia, Fitler Club is hosting its second Artists in Residence Collection. Charleston gets a dash more charming with the opening of a new hotel, The Loutrel. And here in Manhattan, the Carlyle and The Mark hotels have something extra festive in store for the holiday season: a Houses & Parties pop-up at the former, and a full-on floral extravaganza courtesy of Flowerbx at the latter. Major art collections can be found in Philly—not just at the Philadelphia Museum of Art or the Barnes Foundation, but also at the members-only coworking space Fitler Club. In addition to a standout permanent collection (with works by the likes of Rashid Johnson and Damien Hirst) is a series of galleries that play host to the club’s Artists in Residence Collection. Here, the works of local creatives like King Saladeen, Diane Burko, and Michelle Angela Ortiz—a muralist and community arts educator of Colombian and Puerto Rican descent—are on view. (Ortiz’s moving pieces center on the hardships endured by those who have moved through America’s broken immigration system.) Visit the show wearing a mochila (as a nod to Ortiz) and perhaps some sunnies from Philly-founded Warby Parker. Finish off the look with a slinky knit dress by Rag & Bone and some See by Chloé chain boots.

New Yorkers should head to the Carlyle hotel—and not just to try out the new Dowling’s restaurant. Onsite, there’s also a pop-up shop from Rebecca Gardner’s Houses & Parties. Entering the festive space will have you feeling like Clara as she visits the Land of Sweets—inside, it’s a full-on holiday bonanza tied up in a velvet bow. Shop all your holiday hostess and gifting needs—candles boxed in marbleized paper, Christmas crackers, glitter-dusted ornaments. Visit the pop-up wearing something equally festive: how about an all-velvet look? Start with Saloni’s green velvet frock, sling Roger Vivier’s ruby red bag around your wrist, and strap on Tamara Mellon’s ankle-wrap pointed-toe pumps. Madison Avenue has enjoyed the company of Caviar Russe for quite some time, but as of last month, it’s gotten a luxe new addition. The ground floor of Caviar Russe now has a raw bar and Champagne and cocktail lounge. On the walls are cheeky Caviar-themed photographs from David Drebin, and elsewhere are 14 bar seats and a 28-seat lounge where patrons can tuck into a bit of caviar from chef Edgar Panchernikov. Indulge in the meal wearing something that says all or nothing. Saint Laurent’s faux fur cropped jacket, Veronica Beard’s slick leather pants, a sparkling Paco Rabanne purse, and the finishing, chef’s-kiss touch? Chefanie’s caviar button earrings.
The Loutrel, Charleston, South Carolina

Last month, Charleston got even more charming with the addition of The Loutrel to the city’s historic French Quarter. With interiors by the architecture and design firm Michael Graves, the 50-room hotel aims to epitomize Southern hospitality. Up on the roof, there’s a terrace that’s not to be missed. Over in Greenwich, the Patrick Mele boutique plays host to a pop-up shop from Rebecca de Ravenel this holiday season. It’s a match made in heaven: The big-personality shop is as sweet as de Ravenel’s beloved Le Bon Bon earrings. Pick up some holiday goodies there, plus de Ravenel’s own line of homewares including some lovely Indian block-print-inspired tableware. Also in Greenwich is the Brant Foundation Art Study Center’s new show on David Salle. Marking Salle’s first comprehensive survey in 20 years, the exhibition features over 40 works from the Oklahoma-born artist celebrated for his layered, mixed-media work. The show is made up of works both from the Brant Foundation and loans from collections around the world. Visit wearing something artful yet edgy. We like this graffiti-printed shirtdress from Ermanno Scervino. Some riding boots from Gucci and a woolen camel-colored coat from Halogen help to finish off the ensemble, as does a classic pair of Persols in black.

Last month, Fivestory opened its new location in Palm Beach (after the Upper East Side and Southampton, it seemed the natural next step). The concept shop is situated at 201 Royal Poinciana Way and filled with all the brands you’d expect to find there—Batsheva x Laura Ashley, Paris Texas, Maygel Coronel, Olivia von Halle. Flowerbx Decor at The Mark Hotel, New York City

The holidays in New York mean getting dressed up—not just for the city’s habitués but local businesses too. Fifth Avenue is famous for its holiday spirit, and at The Mark Hotel, Flowerbx (the chicest floral delivery service on the market) has taken over with a floral installation running through January 3. The entrance, guarded by two nutcracker soldiers, is formed from moss and greenery, and overhead is a massive bow composed of ruby red roses and carnations. Inside, there is, of course, a Christmas tree, and should you care to bring a bit of the magic home with you, wreaths and more are available for purchase. Take it all in wearing a fully floriated look. West Fourth Street and Mercer in Manhattan is home to a new plant-based all-day boîte, Spring Café Aspen, which opened last month, by Sabrina Rudin. (This is the cafe’s second location; the other is, yes, in Aspen.) Stop into the cheery, casual space for organic, whole-foods-based meals or a juice from the juice bar. For the occasion, wrap up in a color-splashed plaid and fringe coat from Rave Review, some subtle trousers from Loulou Studio, a tortoise-style Arc bag by Cult Gaia, and these fun little black booties from Kat Maconie.
