Make ‘delicious’ and ‘creamy’ satay sauce from scratch with easy fakeaway recipe

Takeaway food is a weekend treat for many Britons but making popular orders from scratch is often cheaper and healthier than ordering in.

However, one thing that often puts people off is replicating the same trademark flavours found in formulas crafted by restaurants.

Luckily one food-lover has curated a quick and easy recipe for nutty satay sauce that anyone can make in a hurry.

Sharing the dish on her blog Eight Forest Lane, Sally claimed that her peanut sauce recipe is “the perfect accompaniment to a range of different dishes”.

She said: “With a delicious balance of creamy peanut butter, salty soy sauce, tangy lime and a hint of chilli, this sauce is going to be your go-to whether for dunking or drizzling.”

While lime may seem like an odd addition to the nutty sauce, Sally noted that it is “the absolute key to balancing out the flavour”.

A blender or food processor is necessary to achieve the signature silky texture of takeaway satay sauce, but they can be whisked by hand if not.

If using a blender, simply combine all of the ingredients together at once and blend until really creamy.

Those using a hand whisk should add the peanut butter and honey to a bowl and whisk to loosen before adding in the liquid ingredients.

Continue to whisk until everything is well blended and the sauce resembles a thick, gloopy texture.

Sally claimed: “As is, this sauce is the perfect consistency for dunking but just add a little water if you want the sauce a little thinner for drizzling or tossing through noodles.

“However you serve this sauce, it’s a staple recipe that once you have in your repertoire is going to make dinner time a whole lot more delicious.”
